About – BLM Special Places

The BLM Special Places Report is a project of Our Backyard Forests, a coalition of Oregon Wild and KS Wild.

Western Oregon BLM forests are often the forests that surround our communities. We live next to BLM forests, we recreate in BLM forests, and we get our drinking water from BLM forests. These are the forests that Oregonians see from our windows or visit on day-trips. Western Oregon BLM forests are Our Backyard Forests.

But these forests are often under threat.

The BLM Special Places Report tells the story that BLM forests are an important part of Oregon’s natural and cultural heritage and the building blocks of our future.

We are continuing to collect photos, art, stories, memories and descriptions of your favorite spots in Oregon BLM forests. Your contributions will help the conservation movement make a case that BLM forests are an important part of Oregon’s future economy as a destination for recreation, tourism and a high quality of life.
